1. Who can join the volleyball program?

Our program is open to all students at Marana High School who meet academic eligibility requirements and commit to the expectations of the team.

2. When are tryouts held?

Tryouts are typically held in early August for the fall season the second week of school. Specific dates are posted on our website and social media channels.

3. What is the difference between Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman teams?

Varsity is our most competitive level and typically consists of upperclassmen.
Junior Varsity (JV) provides development for players.
Freshman is focused on skill development and learning team systems.

4. How many players are selected for each team?

Roster sizes vary, but typically:

Varsity: 10–12 players
JV: 12–14 players
Freshman: 12–14 players

5. What is the attendance policy?

Attendance at all practices, games, and team events is mandatory. Unexcused absences may affect playing time or result in removal from the team.

6. How is playing time determined?

Playing time is earned based on performance, attitude, commitment, and team needs. It is not guaranteed and may vary from game to game, especially at the Varsity level.

7. What is the practice schedule like?

Practices are held after school Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend tournaments. Detailed schedules are distributed monthly.

8. What are the expectations for parent involvement?

Parents are encouraged to support the program through volunteering, fundraising, and respectful attendance at matches.

9. How do I communicate with the coaching staff?

We follow a 24-hour rule after games. Parents should email or request a meeting if they have concerns. Players are encouraged to advocate for themselves.

10. Are there any program fees?

There may be costs associated with gear, team meals, and tournament entry. $75 athletic fee upon your athlete being offered a position on a team. Financial assistance is available upon request.

11. What are the expectations around social media use?

Players must use social media responsibly. Any inappropriate content related to the program, teammates, or opponents may result in disciplinary action.
